Beirut...Woman from Pine and Oak
Munir Mezyed
Beroe
Love poem, you are
Written by God
In a moment
When He was mixing the soil of words
And the water of shadow and light
Molding them into a woman from pine and oak…
She came to the Earth a Bible
Giving glad tidings about the birth of light and color
Carrying the torches of poetry
And the psalms of love
Summing up all the sighs and the secrets of existence
In one word…!
Beirut ...
Woman of pine and oak
I love you
A wintry rain
Quenching the ecstasy of mud and trees
Wetting the lips of the dawn by the wine of dreams
I love you
A sun
Boasting among the stars about her Cedar Crown
Walking with dignity
Under each step
The flowers of love and peace bloom
Stars embroidered on the dress of the universe...!
I love you
A spring
Wherein all the colors of shadow
Blooming into birds
Singing in praise your name …
I love you
A white autumn
Wherein the wind is whining
Blowing all the leaves of darkness…
Beirut ...
This is how I love you
but I want you to be as you are
A woman from pine and oak...
Beirut ...
The feelings of the Cedar wetted by the divinity of love
Talk to the sea and the sky
Thus I behold you a heavenly bride
Bathing in the odes of the knights
In the letters of the lovers
And in the singing of the birds
Drinking the hymns of heaven
Inhaling in luxury the incense of rituals
From the temples
The churches and the mosques...
