The Woooods

The hoopoe, sparrow and owl,

The travelling stork and saker.

Mosquitoes, scorpions, worms,

And the bloody, venomous viper.

The shadows, shades, and the sun,

The summer nap and sleeper.

Its other seasons: vicissitudes,

The lightening, the heavy rain and thunder.

The moth , and all of the ladybugs,

The drone and the honey-producer.

The harvestman, and then the cicada,

The worker-ant and grasshopper.

The deer, the hare, the leopard,

The royal king and tiger.

The frog, the snail, the slug,

And the web-spinning spider.

The shoal, the stream, the river,

Where lies the sly alligator.

The fox, the flower, the mystery,

The thicketed thicket and the zephyr.

The flames, the smoke, the ashes,

The hastening death and the horror.

The thick growth, serenity, the dawn,

The roaring morn and the  verdure.

The mallow, legume and mushroom,

The maple and the bending osier.

The sesame, henna, and resin,

Papyrus and ivy growing taller.

The traverser, the ape, the shaman,

The wise fool and the woodcutter.

The totems, the customs, the violence,

The candor, not the just judicature.

The sounds, the tongues, the silence,

The rustle and the mist growing thicker.

The squirrel, the pig, the hyena,

The hedgehog and enormous tusker.

The hunter, the book that keeps its legends,

The greenness, the yellow leaves that whither.

The traps, the ambushes, the arrows,

Its course: the ambushed and ambush-setter.

The druggist—the herb collector—

Of its fine poppy in particular.

The heron, the bat and the cooing

Pigeons, then comes the wood-pecker.

هُـدْهُـدُهـا ،عصفـورُها ، بـومُـهـا

عُــقـابـُهـا ، والـلـقــلـقُ  الـراحــلُ

بعـوضُهـا ، عَـقـربُـهــا ، دودُهــا

ثـعــبــانـهــا  وسُـمُّـــهُ  الـقــاتــلُ

ظـلالـهــا ، أفـيـاؤهــا ، شمـسـها

مَقـيلُهـا - في الصيف - والقـائـلُ

فـصولهـا  الأخـرى : انقـلاباتهـا

ورعـدُهــا  والـبــرقُ  والــوابــلُ

فـَـراشـُهـا ، كـلّ ُ دعـاسـيــقـِهـا

يـعـسوبُـهـا  ونـحـلهـا الـعـاسـلُ

جُـنْـدُبـهـا  ،  ثُـمّ   رُتَـيْـلاؤهــا

زيـزانـهـا   ونـمـلُـهـا  الـعـامـلُ

غـزالـهـا ،  أرنـبـهـا  ، فهْـدُهـا

ونـمـرهـا  ولـيـثـهـا  الـعــاهــلُ

ضـفـدعـهـا ،  كـلّ ُ حلازيـنـِهـا

والعـنـكـبـوتُ الـشابـكُ الـغـازلُ

ضحضاحُها،جـدولُها ، نهـرُهـا

في مـائـهِ تـمـساحُـهـا الـغـائـلُ

ثـعـلـبُهـا ، زهـرتهـا ، ريحـهـا

غـمـوضـهـا ودغـلـهـا الـداغِــلُ

نـيـرانهـا ، دُخـانُهـا ، ذعـرهـا

رمـادهـا   ومـوتـهـا  الـعـاجـلُ

اخضرارها، اكتظاظها ، صحوها

وفـجـرُهـا وصبـحُهـا الـصاهـِلُ

خبّـيـْـزهـا ، بقـولُهـا ، فِـطـرُهـا

قَـيْـقَـبُها ، صفـصافـها الـمائـلُ

سمسمها ، حنّاؤها ، صمغـهـا

بَـرديّـُهـا  ، لِـبْـلابـُهـا  الطـائـلُ

عـابـرُهـا ، حـطّـابُـها ، قـردُهـا

شـامانها : مجـنـونـهـا العـاقـلُ

طـوْطـمُها ، أعـرافـُها ،عـنـفـُها

وصدقـهـا: لاعَـدلُـُهـا الـعـادلُ

أصواتها ، لغـاتهـا ، صـمـتُهـا

حـفـيـفـهـا ، ضبابـُهـا الـسادلُ

سنجابها ، خنزيـرها ، ضبعهـا

قـنـفـذهـا   وفـيـلُـهـا  الـهـائـلُ

صـيّـادهـا ، سِـفْـرُ أسـاطـيـرهـا

خُـضـرتُـهـا  والأصـفـرُ الـذابـلُ

فـخاخهـا ، شِـراكُهـا ، سهـمُها

دَيْـدنُـهـا : الـمخـتـولُ والخـاتِلُ

عـطـّـارهـا : جـامـعُ أعشـابـها

لا سـيّـما خـشخاشهـا الـفاضلُ

بـلـْـشـونُهـا ، نَقــّـارُ أخـشابِها
