من واقع الاهتمام الذي يوليه المركز الثقافي العراقي بلندن بملف الاثار والتراث العراقي ، وبهدف تسليط الضوء على أهمية الإرث الحضاري لبلاد مابين النهرين ، يستضيف المركز الباحث الاستاذ (مزاحم الجليلي) ليقدم أمسية ثقافية يتحدث من خلالها عن (ملحمة كلكامش) التاريخة ، يليه عرض قصير من الادب السومري تقدمة السيدة (بديعة عبيد) وذلك بتمام الساعة السادسة والنصف من مساء يوم السبت الموافق 11-نيسان-2015

Lecture by Muzahim al-Jalili, an Assyriologist from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London

Muzahim al-Jalili will explain how, why, where, and when the world’s first literary masterpiece was written in ancient Iraq (Mesopotamia). The Gilgamesh epic was not written in isolation but in the context of many other narrative poems.

Performance by Badia Obaid, a Zipang Mesopotamian Storyteller

Badia Obaid will give a short performance of the Mesopotamian narrative poem about Adapa, the wise man of Eridu. Like Gilgamesh, Adapa discovered that he was human and could not live forever.

After the lecture and performance there will be the opportunity to ask questions.

This Gilgamesh epic evening hosted by the Iraqi Cultural Centre (ICCL) is sponsored by the British Institute for the Study of Iraq (BISI). It has been organised by the Enheduanna Society (ESoc), a heritage education charity which spreads knowledge about the literature of ancient Iraq (Mesopotamia).
