* كيف بدأت رحلتك مع علم الاجتماع؟

أعجبت مثل كثير من العراقيين بكتابات علي الوردي منذ سن مبكرة فكان أنْ سعيت لدراسة علم الأجتماع رغم رغبتي بالعمل الصحفي

حصلت على البكالوريوس في علم الأجتماع، كلية الآداب، جامعة بغداد، 1977

حصلت على الماجستير في علم الأجتماع من جامعة ولاية يوتا الأمريكية، 1985

حصلت على الدكتوراه في علم الأجتماع من جامعة يوتا الأمريكية، 1991

* هل لدراستك خارج الوطن دور كبير في تنمية امكانياتك وقابلياتك؟ ام العكس كان من الممكن ان تكوني كما انت عليه الان بدون دراستك خارج البلد.

- بالتأكيد كان للدراسة بالخارج دوراً مهماً وحاسماً إبتداءً من تعلم اللغة الأنكليزية بطلاقة ومروراً بالعيش في مجتمع مختلف والدراسة في مؤسسة أكاديمية ذات مقاييس علمية عالية وراسخة.

* كيف تقسمي مراحل حياتك العلمية؟ واي المراحل تعديها ناضجة وناجحة؟

- مرحلة الشباب بعد التخرج من قسم علم الأجتماع، كلية الآداب، جامعة بغداد والعمل صحفية في صحيفة رئيسية يومية

مرحلة الدراسة بالولايات المتحدة في الثمانينات

مرحلة العودة والعمل في قسم علم الأجتماع، كلية الآداب، جامعة بغداد منذ عام 1992 تخللها العمل في كلية الآداب والعلوم بالمرج التابعة لجامعة قاريونس الليبية للفترة من 1998 الى

2001

كان لكل مرحلة أهميتها ومتعتها وصعوباتها.

* المهام المؤكلة لك كتدريسية في قسم الاجتماع.

- تدريسية ومشرفة على مستوى الدراسات الأولية والعليا في علم الأجتماع

* هل من حق الاستاذ الجامعي ان يرفع صوته عاليا ضد العنف والفساد والظلم؟ ام ان دوره ينحصر في التدريس والحياة الاكاديمية؟

- ليس من حقه فقط وإنّما من واجبه لأنّه يفترض أنْ يكون مهتماً بالشأن العام ومشاركاً فيه

* لو اعطيت زمام الامور في منهجة وتعديل الاختصاصات فأين سيكون موقع علم الاجتماع من ذلك؟

- أضع علم الأجتماع في مقدمة العلوم الأنسانية مع التأكيد على الأهتمام بدعم الدراسات الميدانية والتشديد في فرض المقاييس العلمية المهنية المتعارف عليها.

* ما هو رأي حضرتك بالاحتجاجات المتواصلة للتيار المدني وألية الظهور والاختفاء للتيار الصدري وجمهوره في التظاهرات الحالية؟

- أقف موقفاً حيادياً وأراقب المشهد راجية أنْ تلقى الأحتجاجات الشعبية آذاناً صاغية لأنّها تطالب بالمشروع

* ما مقدار التفاؤل الذي تحمليه عن مستوى الطالب الجامعي وطموحاته المستقبلية؟

- أعتقد أنّ المشكلة ليست في الطالب وإنّما بمستوى تأهيل الملاكات التدريسية والمؤسسة الأكاديمية التي يفترض أن تحافظ على مهنيتها وإستقلاليتها عن المؤسسة السياسية والدينية

* كيف تقضي وقت الفراغ؟ وهل انت مع التخطيط لكل شيء ؟

- أقضي وقتي بالكتابة في مشروعاتي العلمية الى جانب تأدية واجباتي العلمية الأخرى على صعيد الأشراف والتقويم الفردي والمؤسسي

* هل هناك شخص اثر ايجابا في مسيرتك الشخصية والعلمية؟

The award of Fulbright as a resident professor in the College of Dickinson at Pennsylvania ، 2007.

The award of The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the field of social sciences 2015.

* How did you start your journey with sociology?

 As most of Iraqi people I admired the works of Ali Al- Wardi since early time ،so as I chose to study sociology in spite of my wish to work in journalism field.

 Got the B.A. sociology ، College of Arts (1977)

 M.A. Sociology ، the University of Utah(1985)

Ph.D. sociology ، the University of Utah (1991)

* Did the study abroad become the source of developing your abilities and capabilities ?or you could be as you now without going abroad?

 Definitely، the study abroad had a crucial role ، beginning with learning English language ، lived in a different society and studied in a highly stander college.

* How do you divide the stage of your scientific life? and which of these is the mature and successful one?

- The stage of youth after the graduation from the department of sociology، college of Arts ، Baghdad university ،and worked as a journalist in a daily journal.

- The stage of study at the United State of America in the eighties.

- The stage of return to home and working at the college of Arts ، department of sociology since 1992. Each stage had its importance، pleasant and difficulties.

  * What are the responsibilities that you have in the department of sociology?.

A Teacher and supervisor  of the undergraduate students، and the students in higher education.

* Does  a professor or a teacher have the right to high his/her voice against corruption and oppression ? or she/he should concern with the academic life only?

  It doesn’t a right only but a duty ، because the teacher should be interested in the public affairs.

* If you have a chance to articulate the educational curriculum and fields of study، where will you put the sociology and why?

  I will put it in the beginning of the human sciences with focusing on and supporting the field studies and adapting the scientific standers .

* What is your opinion about the protest and demonstrations of Civil Movement and the technique of appearing and disappearing Al- Sadr Movement and his followers?

  I am neutral towards the scene and hoping that the popular protests can achieve their goals.

* What is the rate of hope that you have towards the level of student ' s university and his/her future ambitions?

 I think the problem isn't the student's problem ،but it is the problem of the qualification level of our teaching staffs and academic institutions. I think they should be independent from the religious and political institutions.

* How do you spend the free time ? and are you with planning for everything ?

  I spend my time in writing my scientific projects and my other duties in supervising and evaluating.

* Is there a person who has a positive effect on your personal and scientific life ?

My father mercy be upon his soul، my teacher in PhD stage Lee L. Bean، and my dead husband Abd Al- Hameed Al- Safaa.
